Pre Check Register & Open Payables Reports

Pre Check Register & Open Payables Reports - 11/23/22 07:01 AM

Hello Support,

We have a client running on a network using Ledger, Receivables and Payables. For reasons I don't know the generation of both the Open Payables report and Pre Check Register report are really slow. To the point sometimes it takes 20 minutes for them to slug through to completion. They have two workstations and this happens on either.

They are currently running Payables V9.3C(220316).

Data Integrity check comes back clean. They don't have any issues in terms of data entry. Data entry and printing other reports from the other modules I have been told are OK. Just these two reports that we have noticed.

For testing I copied the data to a local C drive folder and the reports in question generated fast. I copied the data to a standalone laptop and
speed there also was fast. But for some reason these reports take a long time in generating. Sometimes they go fast but most of the time they do not.

I have been told their AV is not scanning either the program directory or data directory on the network. The network cards on the local workstations show a speed of 1.0 Gbps. And each workstation has 8GB of RAM.

They tried swapping out the network cable with another one from the workstation and that did not make a difference.

I believe it is network but not sure what to check for.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Check when they last did a year end in AP. If they don't do them there could be a lot of transactions still in the "current" table. I believe those two reports scan through all of that to generate the Open Payables and the pre-check registers.

Also, when considering the speed of generating reports or accessing information in Adagio, the amount of RAM and especially the disk speed of the server are very important. Things may look faster if you're pulling data down to a local machine because it may have a faster (SSD) hard drive compared to the server as well as no network lag.

Thanks Dan for your input. Will look into both.

Thanks again.
