Micro Encoding Symbols changed somehow

Micro Encoding Symbols changed somehow - 03/22/16 02:12 PM

Hi Everyone,
Can anyone tell me how/why my banks micro-encoding symbols changed on their own from the usual little dots/lines to symbols "!" "@" "#"? Cheques printed fine 20 days ago, and now for this run they've ALL changed. This isn't just for one bank or even one dataset, but for multiple banks and multiple datasets. ???

I just don't get it.

The only think I can think is that we haven't yet had our last-year's hot fixes installed as well as our this year's upgrades done.

Appreciate any feedback.

Could it be that the MICR fonts are no longer available, for whatever reason? Your adagio consultant should be able to determine the source of the problem, and help re-install the MICR fonts if that's it.

Hi Warren,

Thanks for your reply. I had a coworker check her computer and hers show correctly...so its obviously something to do with my computer. I'll keep trying to troubleshoot and hopefully an full cold boot will show results.

Well - a cold boot worked. Can't figure why it did what it did. But now I get to redo all of it...at least I did my backups!

We had the same thing happen. We lost our MICR font and the cheque coding came up with @! characters, for no apparent reason. Fortunately our IT person was able to find the font and reinstall it.

When a font is not available, Windows substitutes another font that is available to print the text. An application does not know that this font substitution is going on.
