Error when printing item valuation report

Error when printing item valuation report - 01/26/16 10:47 AM

Today when we try to print the item valuation report we get an error "cannot find file ICKC003.DAT" and fails. We are on IC version 9.2A (150515). If you run the report again the file number is different, ICKC004.DAT etc. This happens on multiple workstations. With or without the virus scanner. Have done an integrity check and it comes out clean.

Hi, Doug,

Sounds like you're experiencing problems with temp files being created and deleted on your system today. Many reports create temp files to produce the required results.

If you open sample data instead at x:\Softrak\Inventory\Samdata using SAM as the data extension and run the report, do you still receive an error or are you able to successfully preview the report?

I don't have the sample data on server but I do have data on an NAS for backup and it "crashes" also. We have been running reports from the NAS in the past and haven't had problems. The only thing that I have done in the last two days is add an optional field in inventory control.

The problem could exist in your data only. This might be a good time to contact your Adagio consultant for assistance.

I loaded Doug's data onto my computer and printed the Item Valuation report with success. However, I did notice the existence of the following files: ICKC0000I.DAT, ICKC0000R.DAT,ICKC0001I.DAT, ICKC0001R.DAT,ICKC00036.DAT, ICKC00037.DAT,ICKC0006I.DAT, ICKC0006R.DAT,ICKC00116.DAT, ICKC0006I.DAT, ICKC0006R.DAT. Should those files exist and if yes, what are they? They are not found in sample data.

I am using IC 9.2A (150914).

Hi Steve:

The DDE says "I/C Temp Stock Card" and indicates that the files will have a sequential number. I'd think it would be safe to delete them.

Hot Fix - IC 9.2A (150914) Release Note
In Inventory 9.2A, some reports displayed an error similar to “Cannot open file "\DATA\ICxxnnnnR.DAT". The system cannot find the file specified.” on systems with many Windows users (approximately more than 100).

Re: Error when printing item valuation report - 01/27/16 07:52 AM

I was about to put this up but realized this thread had started. One of my clients are experiencing it when they try to run the stock card report. They are running 9.2A (150515).

I am running 9.2A (150914) and didn't have the problem so will advice them to run the HotFix.

Thanks

Hot Fixes do not undergo sufficient testing to be made generally available. Only Service Packs have the required level of Quality Assurance.

Doesn't this Forum provide sufficient notice about availability?

Hot fix corrected the problem. If Hot fixes don't have the level of quality assurance then when will the service pack be made available. Not being able to print a item valuation is pretty important of operations.

Hello Doug,

Your post says that the Hot Fix has resolved the issue at your site. That's excellent news! Thanks for the confirmation. It will be incorporated into the next Service Pack for Inventory.

Clients who have not experienced the problem (and only a small percentage do) have no need of the Hot Fix or Service Pack and the disruption or expense its installation will incur.
