I would agree with Vickie that having special characters in key codes such as customer number, vendor number, item number, etc is not a good idea. It can cause problems with the management Crystal reports as well as ePrint/DocStore handling.
We will investigate if there is a way to soften the error. With Adagio 9.3A program versions with DocStore, we have some systems in place for replacing special characters with underscore characters. Maybe something similar could be done for archiving to the SoftPDF directory (which is the 'ePrint PDF' directory, pre-DocStore).
