I have a client that is receiving the following message when trying to retrieve payroll transactions into Job Cost:

"An invalid job (1) was detected on line 634 of the payroll transactions file. This file will not be retrieved."

When clicking OK, the following message displays:

"An incorrect number of fields were found on line 634 of the payroll transactions file. There should be 11. This file will not be retrieved."

Please advise as to how to correct this issue.

Are you using the correct import format? Have you contacted the payroll provider? Has this been working in the past (in which case - what has changed)?

They have been using this option for years, this is the first time they've encountered this problem. The payroll they are using is PayDirt. I haven't contacted them yet. I was hoping someone on here would know what to do.

I am in the US and don't use PayDirt, but I have seen this message with the payroll software we use here.

What you need to do is open up the file PRAJBTCH.xxx (where xxx is your data extension) using Wordpad, then scroll down to line 634 and take a look at that entry. If necessary, fix the job number or delete the line. Or create the job in JobCost and try again. The file is in your data directory, and it is a text file.
