I need to designate imported GL batch as an Auto-Reversing batch.

The client has non-Adagio cargo, freight handling and warehousing software that works a bit like a job costing module. Jobs are set up with revenue and a list of estimated costs. Jobs are invoiced immediately in the cargo software and imported into Adagio AR. To adhere to the matching principle and to produce accurate financial statements, estimated costs are sent from the cargo program as a csv file, which we import to the GL as accruals. At the beginning of the next month these accrual batches are reversed.

When you create a new GL batch from the keyboard you are offered the option to make the batch an auto-reversing batch. When you import a GL batch there doesn’t appear to be an auto-reverse option. Am I missing something obvious?

It is possible to archive the batch and bring it back as a reversing batch, but this is a chore and not a very elegant solution. I would really like to make things simple for the client.

Click the "Rename" button on the batch grid. The Auto-reversing option can be changed there.

You cannot auto-reverse a batch in period 12 of the fiscal year. Those batches need to be reversed manually.

Yes, you are only able to make a batch that was created 'and entered' in Ledger an Auto-reversing batch.

While you could archive and bring the batch back as a reversing batch, it's probably simpler to just Copy the imported batch and enable the 'Reverse entries' option on the Copy Batch window at that time.

Thanks for the advice. Given that I cannot import a batch with the Auto reverse already designated, the rename will have to suffice.
