We are using O/E 8.1E and have just run into something that I would appreciate clarification on.

We have a sales order in the system, for 25 sheets of an item, however, the item was not showing up in inventory under the tab "Quantities" and under the line "Qty on S/O".

This was quite a puzzle. How could we have an outstanding sales order that is not showing up in inventory?

Turns out it was because the customer was on hold. Is there a way to ensure that ALL orders show up as on S/O in inventory, even the ones where the customer is on hold?

Hi Barb,

When a customer is on hold, creating an order for that customer automatically puts the order on hold, and you cannot change an order to not be on hold if the customer is. On hold orders will not commit quantity to being on sales order for inventory, and there is no over-ride option to allow this - an on hold order is not really outstanding.

Once the customer has been taken off hold, and the order taken off hold, then the quantity will appear as committed to a sales order for inventory.

If you want to see a list of orders that are on hold, the Order List report in OrderEntry allow selecting just the on hold status when the rpeort is printed.

You could also create a Filter to see just "On hold" orders and you could assign a Style to highlight orders that are on hold.
