We run Adagio TB&R on two computers. We have two licensed users of Lanpak. I believe that Lanpak is installed correctly (since the "Help - About" screen shows two licensed users. What bothers me is that the screen says "1 of 2 in use" even if both users are using TB&R!)

Our current problem is that User 1 cannot post time/reimbursable entries while User 2 is inputing billing entries.

Shouldn't we be able to do this? Do I have to reinstall Lanpak? Are we going to lose data if we reinstall.

So many questions and so little time.

Hopefully we can resolve this in a step-by-step manner.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Eric

Dear Eric,

It sounds to me like the software is working as it should.

With Adagio accounting modules you get one free license per module. What this means is that adding a 2 unit lanpak should give you 3 simultaneous accesses.

Posting requires exclusive access to the T&B files. This is why your second user must exit to enable the other user to post.

Hi Eric,

Just to re-iterate:

This is not a Lanpak issue where you are unable to post a Billing batch while another user is entering a Time batch. You do not have to reinstall either the programs or the Lanpaks. BTW, even if you did, you would not lose any data as programs and data are stored separately.

There is resource locking that intentionally is blocking this scenario. You should have received a warning message that 'Posting is currently unavailable due to an open batch or access to A/R' (or something like that). In order to post a batch, no other users can be entering a batch of either type.

Do you feel this is a limitation of Adagio Time&Billing?

Eh! It's just a nuisance for us since we only have two licenses and we both work in the same room.

It would be a big inconvenience if a larger firm used the module. Someone would have to run around to find out who else was using TB&R and ask them to exit.

Thanks for the info.
