Question- Like many of use using Adagio we converted from the old Accpac Dos Package which used and recommended we set up an Item Code Structure which used a Digit or two digits and also / or another symbol before the actual item code ..
We want to use the Adagio SalesCQ Package for a Web Interface for Orders from customers in the Web Store we currently have. The SalesCQ does not understand the single Digit and the / that we are using we use before the Actual Item.
Heres the Question?
How do we Mass Change the Items Code Structure in O/E -
I need to cut off the Digit and the / that we are using in our Order Entry Application which we have over 20,000 items , this needs to be altered without any inorder to import from SalesCQ into the Application.. Thanks. Hopefully there is a easy fix for this issue -:=)

Hello Lester:
The answer to your specific question is to purchase the Adagio Toolkit (Adagio Toolkit functions) from Dakota Software. You can either purchase the entire Toolkit or just the "Item Format Changer". The Toolkit is excellent quality and can be purchased through your dealer.

However a more important issue is to understand in what way does SalesCQ not support your existing item structure? SalesCQ should understand the item format just like the other Adagio modules do. Are you remembering to remove all pre-defined dividers (such as the /) in the source file before importing?

We have the Toolkit Application --
by the way its an Excellent Program-
It should be a part of Adagio Software program rather than an add on purchased
But I'm still a little confused about your answer the Toolkit package does not change the file structure rather only the item number.. - How do you do that change the Structure or format with Toolkit?

Lester:
The full Toolkit has a function called "Item Format Changer". The Toolkit is sold either as a complete entity with all functions or on a function-by-function basis so you may not have the "Format Changer" function yet.

However before you even consider that, it's critical to understand why you feel that SalesCQ won't handle your item structures.

Hi Lester,

It sounds like you are trying to import quotes into Adagio SalesCQ.

Make sure that the item numbers you are importing do not include the separator characters that are "masked" into your Inventory item numbers by the setup of your item format.

When your item number layout was created way back when, you specified separator characters to improve readability of the item numbers. These characters are not typed in when entering an item number, but are printed on all reports and forms.

They should not be imported either.

In the Adagio sample data, the inventory items are displayed (and exported) as "BKH.UNI-001", but you would import them as "BKHUNI001". The separators are part of the item format, but not part of the item number.
