You may have better luck for this on the Plus Community forum. If you search for Bar code scanner, you will find a number of topics that recommend hardware and software for scanning and for printing Bar codes.

Check the Announcements as well. Bravo Software Group announced the RemoteDesk Bar Code Printing Module on February 4th.
