Ledger 9.0B

After running the "Create Next Fiscal Year" function we are unable to post to the new year just created. The Fiscal Calendar shows the records for the new year have been created. However the Maintenence menu still shows the "Create Next Fiscal Year" function as available (not grayed out) which, according to the manual, should no longer be available after the function has been run. None of the batch operations allow access to the new fiscal year. The Integrity check shows no errors.

We restored from a backup and tried the function again. Same result. Can we continue to use the Ledger until this is sorted out, or should we stop altogether. Please advise.

Did you run "Create next fiscal year" or "Create next fiscal budgets"? Creating just the budgets creates the entries in the fiscal calendar, but doesn't allow you to post anything into the next year (the "Next Year" batch button won't appear).

Yes it was Create Next Fiscal Year. I have done it three times now with the same result.

Since after running the function it is still available from the menu, running it again on same data causes endless errors "Error adding record to G/L fiscal years, record already exists."

The help button on the Create Next Fiscal Year function actually brings up the help text for "Creating Next Fiscal Budgets."

I am using Windows Vista. Further investigation reveals that the problem will not occur on Windows XP machines. We can live with that. We just won't use Vista for accounting.

It's as if some switch didn't get switched at the end of the process. Can this be fixed or do we have to revert to a backup? The problem didn't reveal itself for a while so significant work has been done since that backup. The data integrity check after running the function didn't reveal any problems so we kept going.

If you "point" at the new year data from the XP machine, does it behave normally, with the new year shown?

The data was somehow damaged such that even XP could not work with it. However, Michael Mulrooney has now fixed it for us for which we are grateful.

Thanks for your help.
