I have a wholesale customer that I would like to give an additional 10% discount.

For most items we have a retail price "A" and a wholesale price "B". The % difference between the two varies. I want this customer on price level "B" plus 10%.

I went through Special Prices and added the % discount to every item that customer purchases. However, nothing happened!

I discovered that the 10% was applying to the base price, since the "B" price was lower the customer was given that price instead. I found that if I calculated the discount from "A" (52% in 1 case, 48% in another...) I could make it work. This is not feasible across many items which would have to be calculated individually.

Any way to apply the 10% to the price level the customer is on?

I think the easiest way is just to issue the customer an additional 10% discount on the invoice. This default can be saved in the customer record (if you're using Adagio Receivables V9.0A).

Here's how you do it.

Create an Alternate Price List called 10%OFF. Then use the Create Alternate Price function and add whatever items you want to charge 10% off to this APL. When doing this, uncheck all but the Base Price box and select Percentage Decrease of 10% on the bottom row.

Whenever the base price changes or you add a new item, you can repeat the procedure, overriding the existing APL when asked to do so.

Special Prices is not the way to go here, Alternate Price Lists is.

Enter 10%OFF as the price list on the customer master for this customer.
