Hi Barb,

We have had users specifically ask that we make adjustment entry multi-user, so that they could have multiple people entering adjustments.

Could you not ask your people to exit the application if they see entries already in the file, and to always post and print the posting journal after they've finished their entry? How about using specific reference or description coding to identify the transactions for GridView if you are trying to determine a problem?

Also, doesn't this understate the value of your inventory by the amount "in transit"?

Andrew

Can I add advice? Can you identify who is entering the batches in...ie: when you print the report and the batch now has mixed entries can you tell where they originated from? if that is the case, could you not use gridview to export the batch, sort the batch from where the entries generated and then you have your "old" comfortable tidy report that you used to have (which makes balancing intercompany accounts so much easier). i balance intercompany accounts as well, so i understand where you are coming from.

Laura, thanks for your advice, it is appreciated. For now, we have asked all our employees who enter adjustments to not enter into adjustments if someone else is in that screen. As it is entirely possible for two employees to enter at the same time and not "see" each other, this is not wholly satisfactory.

Thanks again.

Hi Barb,

Would allowing you to select, sort and subtotal the posting journal report by location solve your dilemma?

Do you mean preview the report, then hit "export" from there? I tried that, and was not able to sort it very effectively.

No. I mean having a form in front of the posting journal that would allow the report to be printed in different sequences and subtotalled by different options.

Okay, I'm intrigued. How do I do that? What kind of "form"?

One we would add to a future version of the program.

Yes, that would indeed be helpful. If it could be sorted by a variety of different possibilities, such as by department, by account code. Yes, that would be helpful.

In the meantime, I have instructed everyone to be extremely careful when entering transactions.

Thanks Andrew.
