Hello,

I'm assuming that Inventory Shipments can be imported from an Excel format. I can find a sample .csv format in the sample data but not a .xls I see both formats for the Receipts, Stock Transfers and Adjustments but only the .csv for Shipments.

I'll just try creating one and messing around a bit, but I usually like to have a sample that the Pros created to start from or refer to in case I run into difficulties.

Can anyone point me to or send me a sample please ?

Thanks, Pete

Hi Pete,

We do a pile of imports and exports, and we find that CSV actually works consistently better than XLS.

It's not that we don't like Excel, it's just that on large imports of files the import is slower in Excel, and you leave yourself open to file format changes with each MS Office update, that quite possibly will not match to Adagio's Excel import template.

Setting up a regular import is best done in CSV. If you still want an XLS import for shipments and template, I'll send you one. Which version of Excel?

Take care,
Brian

Hi Brian,

Thanks for the reply and I appreciate the insights. In my messing around/testing I found that it was quite easy to create the Excel format that Adagio imported successfully.

I visited the client yesterday and as the forms they use to collect the "Shipment" info is already in an excel format that they are comfortable with and the files shouldn't be too large, I'll work on an "interface-type" Excel spreadsheet that will gather the info in an Adagio format for importing.

The main need for this has arisen from the fact that Adagio Inventory does not allow multi-user access to the transaction data entry for shipments (among other data entry areas). Hopefully this restriction is one that can be lifted in not too distant versions. For now we're hoping to have multiple users enter the data into the spreadsheet forms for importing.

Thanks again, keep well...

Pete
