Which Adagio program are you referring to? A specific program or any program you try?

The security Groups is the Group setup. If you change the settings for a particular Group within an application - say Ledger just as an example - these settings are only applicable when you sign into that data set. If you log into a different company or year in Ledger, you should not see the Group settings change at all. If you add or delete a security Group in one data location, you should see no change in any other.

To prevent access to a particular company or year, you either delete the Group code within that company, or change the access menu options to disallow everything except File / Open and Exit.

What specifically do you mean by 'years'? Are these backups of company data from different years, stored in separate locations? Or do you mean signing into your live database with a different date? The first case will allow you to assign Groups as discussed above. The latter case has no particular security settings.
