There isn't a built-in index to sort Purchase Orders or other transactions by Date. But you could create a Filter that lists all POs but has the grid sort by Order Date or any other field(s) of your choice.

From the Edit menu, choose Document Filters. And create a filter that has a criteria that will select everthing - such as PO number greater than blank. At the bottom, choose the sort field(s), and right-click to sort either ascending or descending.
