I have an ACCPAC Plus client running AP, AR, GL, IC, and OE. They use IC only as a price list. I am quoting them a price for converting to Adagio. I would like to sell them only AP, AR, GL and OE, and convert the IC items to an OE price list. Is this doable? By me?

Thanks

Steve

Steve,

When OE is installed without IC, it allows for the import of items.

You could use GridView to export the items from ACCPAC IC to Excel, make any changes needed for the OE item data format and import them into OE.

Hi Steve - I had a similar situation as yours. All I did was rename the IC item files to OE and everything worked well. I think Ralph's suggestion may be cleaner, but my method worked well.

Regards,
Lars

Ralph: In this case, OE is installed WITH IC, so I don't see how your suggestion applies to me. The whole OE Price List maintenance menu option is grayed out.

Lars: I tried renaming the ICIT*.XXX files to OEIT*.XXX, and then deleting the remaining IC*.XXX files, but then I couldn't launch OE at all. Can you try it out and tell me exactly what worked for you.

Thanks

Steve

Delete the following (after making a backup);
IC#*
ICBOM*
ICGLBTCH
ICGLOB
ICILOC*
ICLOC*
ICPO*
ICHIST*
ICTAX*
ICW*
ICTXG*

(I have left the extension out to reduce the typing).

Now rename IC*.XXX to OE*.XXX.

Sorry - Steve. I should have given you the list of accounts to rename. Thanks, Doug, for providing this. After these files have been renamed as listed, you should be good to go.

Hi Doug

I followed your instructions on a new set of data I created, and I am still getting the message "Cannot open non-existant file ICGLOB.DAT".

Please review your instructions.

Thanks

Steve

PS - There were a bunch of files that couldn't be renamed - they were ICBRSCGL, ICLRSC, ICRPT*, ICSHIPTR and ICZRSC. I guess they already have OE equivalents. I didn't think any of them were that important, so I left them alone.

The only way I got this to work was to start a whole new OE in a folder that does not contain IC. Of course, this means losing the OE history to date.

You might experiment with doing this, deleting IC and then copying the OEGLOB file from the new one to the old folder. This would retain history, but I an not sure if any other issues would occur.

Thanks for listing the files I missed. I forgot one very important step;

Create a new OE standalone database (you only need the GLOB file so only complete the Company Profile) and copy the new OEGLOB file to the live data after making the changes to the IC files.

There's a flag within the OE Company Profile that indicates that it is connected with IC. You can see this using GridView and pointing to the Company Profile file. Unless you feel brave enough to change this with a hex-editor, then the OEGLOB file needs to be replaced as Doug indicated.
