I am having an issue with getting a file imported and since I did not see anything in the release notes to suggest that this problem will be fixed by the service pack, I wanted some feedback.

When importing a file the transaction date and fiscal date keeps disappearing so an error stating that the default date is invalid keeps coming up.

See attached. Can anyone shed some light on this.

Thanks

Is the date set up correctly in the import file?

From Help:

4 possible formats to choose from:

ASCII YYYYMMDD – 2 or 4 digit year formats allowed (“110128” or “20110128”).

Date – The Julian date format as a number of days since Dec 31 1899. ( ie 37649).

WinFormat – The ‘short date format’ as defined in the Windows Regional Settings ( ie “01/28/2011”).

User specified – Set the desired date format exactly as it is in the import file ( ie MMM dd yyyy if this date is formatted Jan 28 2011).

This always gives me problems.

Sorry, didn't see that it was a field default.

Hi,

I'm not sure why you would want to default the transaction dates in a regular import, but have you checked that the date you are choosing as a default date lies within the fiscal period you have selected? Also, what is the setting in the Company Profile about checking the date against the fiscal calendar?

This is working fine for me with Ledger V9.1A (140221).

A full description of the rules regarding every import field is available by pressing F1 when defining the import template or in this document from our Technical Tips page.

Hi Andrew,

I checked the fiscal calendar and all is fine with dates being chosen.

The file is a text file which is being imported as a ASCII CSV (Delimited)format as it is an export from their payroll system and they have been doing this for years and as recent as last month with not problems, however the problem arose when attempting to post March's payroll.

I just had them do an upgrade to the version you mentioned and still no problem.

Could it be a corrupt file?

Yes. Have them recreate the definition from scratch.
