We have to update an alternative price list for a customer effective January 1st. The update alternate price list feature seems very convenient.

Is there a way to do the changes now and for them to come into effect January 1st? The issue is that we have a bunch of orders for this customer in the system, and the terms of the price increase state that anything shipped past Dec 31 is at the new price.

Will we have to update all these orders that are already in the system manually?

There is no means to update prices in advance. Any price update does not impact existing orders.
