We have a client that has Trend Micro centralized management. The antivirus has a client install on the server as well. The issue is that the antivirus is thinking Adagio is a virus and it is quarantining files, renaming extensions and corrupting our Adagio install.

Their IT guy has excluded the Adagio Paths, and had to exclude some specific files such .exe files. But still the antivirus doesn't like the temp files, and we cannot exclude specific files since there is going to be always new files.

Does anybody has experience with Trend Micro and how have you dealt with this issue?

Any information will be greatly appreciated.

I did a search on +Trend +Micro on this forum and found a couple of hits.

Here is one.

We don't have a known reason for this, and have only heard of this a couple of times. Check the other hits on this website for the above search and there are successful usages of Trend Micro with Adagio (including Adagio consultants who use it in house). There may be an AV settings that is doing this.

Can you give an example of an Adagio program and version that is showing the problem?

I don't have personal experience with Trend Micro, but VirScan.org will test an uploaded file against 35 antivirus packages. It's a free service. I uploaded the latest OrderEntry program file. No malware or viruses were detected.

Trend Micro: Trend Micro Worry-Free Business 6.0 with Service Pack 3

This version of Trend Micro is very intrusive. Until finding a better solution, all the .exe files from the Softrak folder have been excluded from the AV which only accepts up to 100 exclusions. The client portion on the server has been removed. Softrak folder has been restored from a backup because there were missing .exe files and who knows what else.

Hi Guys,

For what it's worth, my Dell Notebook came (June 2010) with the following Trend Micro AV:

Full scheduled scans of the Local Hard Disk are run daily and so far, it has not affected the Adagio installation on my notebook. While I have configured excludes/exceptions for the Real-Time Protection, I have not configured any for the scheduled scans.

Regards, Pete
